Welcome to my stop on the She Speaks to Angels Blog Tour!

Title: She Speaks to Angels
Author: Ami Blackwelder
Series: (The AngelFire Chronicles #1)

Published: 2012

Genre(s): YA, Paranormal Romance

What if everything you believed was a lie?

A Suicide
Seventeen year old Allison Maney attends Millennium High School in Manhattan. Nothing out of the ordinary, unless you consider the occasional suicides at the school. At least that is what everyone is told, what everyone believes. But Tommy Bachelor was a popular football player; why would he jump off the roof of the school?

Dangerous Liaisons
When Dameon pays attention to Ali, she couldn't be more excited, because for the past three months he was all she could think about. But now that Dameon is finally pining for her affections, she is becoming more and more wrapped up in a clique of three who, as new transfers to the school, are proving to be trouble. But at least Dameon loves her, doesn't he?

Kian- a dangerous love interest she did not ask for.
Powers- belonging to an underworld she never knew existed.
A Clique- that could be friends or foes?

A Soul Purpose
The underworld of angels and demons have one thing on their mind: Earth. Demons want to do what they want.

Angels want to protect humans from these rogue angels, AKA: Demons For Allison Maney, everything is not exactly what it seems…

A Suspenseful Romance
Caught between Dameon and Kian, the suicide and the clique of three, Ali won't know who to trust…or who to love.

My Review: Ami Blackwelder wasted no time getting into the story! The story starts off with Tommy, a popular football player jumps off the roof of the school and dies. Everyone assumes it is a suicide, but Allison and her friends are suspicious. They begin to investigate Tommy's death and Allison soon discovers the world of AngelFire. Angels who protect mankind from demons.

I liked the main character Allison. She was likeable to me and I also liked she did not try to "follow the crowd. Her and her friends Jennifer and Molly have known each other nearly forever. I like their different personalities all working together.

Dameon appears very early on in the story. Allison has had a crush on him since he came to their school. But then Kian comes into the picture and becomes a love interest for Allison.

The story kept me guessing as to who was a demon and who was an angel. I won't tell you here though, you'll have to read it for yourself to find out! I really enjoyed this book and would definetly recommend it. Especially if you enjoy angel stories. This one is very suspenseful as well. I would add this one to your library!

Interview with the author:
Me: Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Ami Blackwelder:
I have always loved storytelling, yes.

Me:
Some writers have rituals or routines they go through or schedules they stick to, do you?
Ami Blackwelder:
Somewhat. I like tea, writing by a window or where there is lots of light and outside environment.

Me:
What is your “writing space” like? Do you have a specific place you like to write?
Ami Blackwelder:
See above question:)

Me:
A lot of writers listen to music while they’re writing. Do you like to listen to music while you write?
Ami Blackwelder:
I like to listen to classical, and sometimes other fun music. Mostly though I like quiet when writing.

Me:
Where do you draw your inspiration from? Where did the inspiration for The Angel Fire Chronicles come from?
Ami Blackwelder:
Inspiration comes from dreams, talking with people springs ideas, seeing movies and wishing things were different, wanting to tell a certain story with a particular message. AngelFire came from a love of angels and mysteries and YA.

Me:
Do you have any favorite books, or authors or genres? Have they influenced your writing any?
Ami Blackwelder:
Yes, I love George Orwell.

Me:
Where did your inspiration for the characters in She Speaks to Angels come from? Do the characters show up fully formed for you or is it a process?
Ami Blackwelder:
Some characters come in the beginning and others develop as the story progresses. Inspiration for them comes from my life and imagination.

Me:
Do you have any advice for all those aspiring writers out there?
Ami Blackwelder:
Never give up. Write what you love. Write what you know. Never give up. Yes, I said that twice :0

Me:
Anything you want to add?
Ami Blackwelder:
I love storytelling which is why I do it. If you are in writing only for making money, find another venue. There are much easier ways. Do what you love. Period. Life is too short.

Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine at: http://breakingthespine.blogspot.com/

This is my first Waiting on Wednesday. I debated over a few books but decided on Trisha Wolfe's Astarte's Wrath (A Kythan Guardians Novella). Set to be published July 30th, 2012

Astarte's Wrath (A Kythan Guardians Novella)

Two thousand years before Dez Harkly developed her secret powers, Kythan Astarte vowed to free the Kythans from the binds that enslaved them to the Egyptian pharaohs and sorcerers. Discover the prophecy that originated from a very different time, and spans generations to link two very different girls...This is the beginning.

Set against the backdrop of the Battle of Actium, in the city of Alexandria, Star struggles with her guardian duties as her feelings for the newly named pharaoh of Egypt grow deeper. Not only is Caesarian her duty, he’s the son of Cleopatra, and he’s…human. All of which makes their love forbidden.

But when a conspiracy linked to Caesar, Caesarian’s own father, creeps its ways into Alexandria, Star must choose between helping her fellow Kythans free themselves of their servitude, or protecting her charge—the last pharaoh—while Egypt burns around her.

Okay, so it's true I have not read Destiny's Fire yet, but it is way up there on my To Be Read List. Within the next 5 books I will be reading, so I am very excited about Astarte's Wrath coming out in July!! I will absolutely have Destiny's Fire read by then!

Trisha Wolfe is awesome by the way! You should find her online! Here are the links:
